Till the other day, that means, 77 years since Independence, Vijaynagar, the last Indian post in Arunachal Pradesh along the border with Myanmar, was almost an unknown location.

This last circle headquarters in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, was not known to the outside world, just because there was no road or road connectivity between Miao and Vijaynagar.

However, after collective effort by the Arunachal Pradesh government and the local administration, road communication has been finally established. The 140 km Miao-Vijaynagar road is now complete and ready.

The smooth stretch of concrete is absolutely motorable making the drive to this pristine, untouched destination memorable and pleasurable.

The road to Vijaynagar is through the narrow winding roads traversing the dense forests of Namdapha National Park and Tiger Reserve.

This vital road promises to be a gamechanger for the people of the 13 villages of Vijaynagar that shares borders with Myanmar on one side, and China on the other.

The local people are happy with the works executed by the state government.

Speaking to Northeast Live, a local said, “When there was no road, we have faced a lot of problems in commuting. We had to carry all the luggage on our heads. But the road is a total game changer, it has made communication really easy for us.”

Narrating the struggles and efforts behind the construction of the road, Circle officer C Maio, a young 2022 batch Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service officer said, “The road has helped the people of Vijayanagar to get connect with Miao and other places. There are currently several developing initiatives underway. The government has undertaken initiative such as the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) – UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik), to improve infrastructure and connectivity.”

Vijaynagar will soon have more facilities. The government is working towards fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of the people of this last post on the eastern-most Indian border.
