PM Modi will become the first Prime Minister to visit Kaziranga ever since it was upgraded to a national park from a sanctuary in 1974

Kaziranga National Park is all set to create history on Saturday when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits the world’s largest one horned rhino habitat.

PM Modi will become the first Prime Minister to visit Kaziranga ever since it was upgraded to a national park from a sanctuary in 1974.

There is tremendous excitement among the wildlife community that looks after the 900 square km park that is home to 2,600 one horned rhinos, besides other exotic animals like the Royal Bengal Tiger, water buffaloes, a variety of deers and a whole lot of avian species.

After spending the night near Kaziranga on Friday, Prime Minister Modi would take a jeep safari the next morning. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will accompany the Prime Minister during the safari.
Both before the start, and after the end of the 80-minute safari, Prime Minister Modi will witness a line-up of draught elephants at the park.

The park rangers and other wildlife staff would treat the Prime Minister to a rendition of the famous song Hastir Kanya or Elephant’s Daughter. Gauripur royal and one of Assam’s popular folk singers, Pratima Barua Pandey was fondly referred to as Hastir Kanya.

A platoon of women forest guards is also slated to present a salute to the Prime Minister. The authorities have earmarked 2 designated spots inside the sprawling park for the Prime Minister’s safari to halt and view the scene inside Kaziranga.
