Pradyot in a direct message to the Government batted for the inclusion of capable members in the Joint Working Committee so that there can be an honourable solution

A large crowd received TIPRA Motha chief and royal scion Pradyot Debbarma today at Hathai Kotor as he reached the Tiprasa heartland today afternoon after signing the historic Tiprasa Accord yesterday in New Delhi.

He broke his fast unto death at Hathai Kotor among his people.

In a post, the royal scion wrote, “I am yet to eat anything and surviving on glucose and water ! Tomorrow at 12 I will reach Hatai Kotor and break my fast !”

It was a sea of supporters and an emotional moment for the TIPRA Motha chief as well as his supporters, after the Centre acknowledged the plight of the Tiprasas.

While stating that there is nothing wrong to be jubilant over what has happened, Pradyot Debbarma cautioned against an overdrive of celebrations post the signing.
However, the most important message what Pradyot Debbarma has left for the Government is that, right people must be roped in to be included in the Joint Working Committee, which has been agreed to be constituted for working out and implement the mutually agreed points on all the above mentioned issues in a time-bound manner to ensure an honourable solution.
Pradyot in no uncertain terms said, “We all have to come together and work for the greater cause. I want that in the negotiations, in the committee, there are such Tiprasas who know about their history, there are academicians, teachers who know, there must be such Tiprasas who have knowledge about the land laws, there must be such a Tiprasa in the Committee who is a lawyer and understands as to what are our Constitutional rights. There must be such a Tiprasa (in the committee) who knows about our history, our civilization, religious practices and traditions. Such a Tiprasa must be roped in who is not greedy, and a law must be created thereafter so that our future can be safeguarded.”
Pradyot Debbarma reiterated that the signing of the agreement was a victory for the Tiprasas.
He said, “When I decided to go for a hunger strike, many of our Tiprasa leaders had humiliated me who said that nothing is going to happen, the government will not accept the demand. But the government in writing has accepted that there was mistakes done before in Tripura and to rectify that there will be a constitutional solution. I told that I will leave Hathai Kotor in hunger, but will not return empty handed. This victory is not Bubagra’s victory, this is your victory, the victory of the poor Tiprasas.”
