Manipur oil dealers’ meet today to decide on reopening fuel pumps

The petrol pump dealers of Manipur have called for a meeting today to decide if they would reopen the petrol pumps in and around Imphal starting today.

The fuel outlets have been shut since yesterday following unrest in the state and huge extortion demands that has been impacting business.

A ten-member oil dealers’ delegation, including a representative from Indian Oil, called on Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi at his office in Imphal on Friday.

During the meet, the delegation brought forward their grievances faced from different quarters amidst the prevailing situation and also the decision to shut down petrol pumps in Imphal Valley.

As per reports, Chief Secretary Joshi requested the delegation to reconsider their decision in view of the hardship faced by the general public and also assured to look into their grievances.

Following the assurance from Joshi, the dealers have called for a meeting today following which they will take a decision on reopening the outlets.

Earlier, the dealers had informed that the ongoing strife in the state caused huge financial stress and a host of other challenges to them.
