Arunachal Pradesh: Centre reviews progress of strategic Frontier Highway along LAC with China

Starting from Bomdila, the Frontier Highway will pass through Nafra, Huri, and Monigong, which is closer to the LAC and will end in Vijaynagar, near the India-Myanmar border.
Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today reviewed the progress of the strategic Frontier Highway in Arunachal Pradesh, a pioneer project to ensure seamless movement of security forces and equipments to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.
Gadkari charied a high-level meeting in Delhi today which was attended by Union MoS for Road Transport and Highways VK Singh, Union Minister and Arunachal (West) Lok Sabha MP Kiren Rijiju, Arunachal (East) Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao, as well as officials of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).
Nitin Gadkari in a post on X after the meeting stated, “Reviewed the progress of Frontier Highway Project 🛣 with Union Minister Shri @KirenRijiju Ji, Union MoS General Shri @Gen_VKSingh Ji and MP Shri @TapirGao Ji in New Delhi today.
It is a flagship project poised to have a profound impact on the socio-economic landscape of Arunachal Pradesh and the entire North East region.”
Union Kiren Rijiju also posted on X and wrote, “Had meeting with Hon Union Minister @nitin_gadkari Ji to review the progress of major roads in Arunachal Pradesh including the historic Frontier Highway. Senior officers of MoRTH, BRO and NHIDCL attended the meeting.
Construction works for the flagship project began early this year and is expected to be completed by 2027.
Starting from Bomdila, the Frontier Highway will pass through Nafra, Huri, and Monigong, which is closer to the LAC and will end in Vijaynagar, near the India-Myanmar border.
Some of the important places that will be linked through the road are Tawang, Mago Upper Subansiri, Upper Siang, Mechukha, Tuting, Dibang Valley, Kibithoo, Changlang, and Dong.
The entire project cost will be around Rs 40,000 crore. The ‘Frontier Highway’ will cover a total of 1748 km distance.
The nearly 1,700 km-long Frontier Highway project is part of the Centre’s plans to enhance the road connectivity as well as other infrastructure close to it’s borders with China.
This strategically significant road will ensure all-weather connectivity to the Indo-China Border, fostering socio-economic development in the border regions of Arunachal Pradesh.
