Lyngdoh was however tight-lipped when asked about the exact number of leaders who will join the NPP
Meghalaya Cabinet Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said that the sudden decrease in support for Congress in the state is National People Party’s (NPP) gain as people see NPP as a natural alternative to Congress.
Speaking to media, Lyngdoh said, “In the state of Meghalaya, with the sudden decrease in support for Congress the alternative party in the state is NPP. We have also seen the negative campaign warning people against joining NPP is slowly dying out.”
Lyngdoh further added that people like to associate themselves with a winning party and hence there is a high probability of increase in people’s participation with NPP ahead of the upcoming polls.
“Any candidate or probable candidate in any election would like to associate themselves with the winning team. They want to associate themselves with parties which are working hard. We have given a clear report of the things we have done and things we want to do, so there is a high probability of increase in people’s participation with NPP. We are seen as an inclusive party that is also seen as an acting party,” Lyngdoh said.
She added that she is happy to be in a period where leaders from across the political spectrum are joining the NPP.
Lyngdoh was however tight-lipped when asked about the exact number of leaders who will join the NPP.
“You will see the disclosure, you will be surprised. I hope whatever doubts people had about NPP will disappear after that,” she said.
She added that in the state of Meghalaya NPP is the the frontrunner as it has its roots in the state and engages with people across religions.
