The 8th International Conference and Gathering of Elders has begun today at Shiksha Valley School in Dibrugarh and it will continue till February 1 .
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the conference in the presence of RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Addressing the gathering, Sarma said, “It is truly an honour and privilege to stand before you at the International Conference and Gathering of Elders. First of all let me welcome you to the state of Assam, Assam is an important state of India and I am sure in the next 5 days you will be able to explore our beautiful state.”
“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the International Centre for Cultural Studies for organising this remarkable event. The theme of this conference ‘Shared Sustainable Prosperity ’ resonates deeply with the challenges and aspirations of our time,” he added.

RSS supremo Mohan Bhagwat praised the country’s spirituality while speaking at the event.
“We have always known that there is something beyond material existence. Somewhere in the ancient times our elders understood that everything is one. They also found that one takes many forms and many names. So, there is no point quarrelling over diversity, diversity is the decoration of existence,” Bhagwat said.
As many as 300 participants from over 33 nations have convened for the conference to share their spiritual wisdom, represent their traditions and experience others’ way of life.

The conference will aim at fostering an exchange of ancient indigenous knowledge with the objective of building shared sustainable prosperity for the world.
Paper presentations, panel discussions, workshops and cultural nights centered around the topics of ecological wisdom, collaborative governance and revival of traditions will be featured during the course of the conference.
