Effective implementation of projects: Mizoram govt constitutes State Project Monitoring Committee

The members of the Committee will include representatives of church bodies, civil society organisations as well as political parties.

In a bid to ensure the holistic implementation of government sponsored projects the Mizoram Government has constituted the Mizoram State Project Monitoring Committee. Chief Minister Lalduhoma will be heading the Committee as the Chairman.

The main essence of constituting the Committee is that the government will work in close co-ordination with different representatives of the civil society, so that the schemes when implemented yield results.

R.Lalrinawma, a former Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer has been appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the Committee, while Vanlalruata Sailo will be the Secretary of the Committee. Other members for the Committee shall be appointed from MKHC or Mizoram Churches Leaders Committee, a member each from all political parties viz. ZPM, BJP, INC, and MNF; as well as one member each from civil societies- Central Young Mizo Association, MHIP or Mizo Women’s Group, MUP or Mizoram Elders’ Group, Mizo Zirlai Pawl and the Mizo Students’ Union.

Besides looking after the implementation part, the Committee shall also work on maintaining quality of works. The Committee will also be able to make suggestions to the government as and when it thinks to be necessary.

As per inputs, the Mizoram State Project Monitoring Committee shall have the power to inspect and monitor any projects it deems necessary, leveraging the Integrated Programme Evaluation & Monitoring System dashboard for the purpose, with Quality Control Division under PWD at the disposal of the Committee as and when required.

The Committee shall be supported and assisted in its mandate by the Programme Implementation, Monitoring & Evaluation (PIME) Unit under the State Institute for Transformation, Planning & Programme Implementation Department, and is tasked to ensure timely completion of projects.

The Committee may, if absolutely necessary, recommend revision of estimates of works / projects based on the site inspection report, and take up other functions as may be assigned to it from time to time and submit recommendations to the Government.
