Temjenba Ao, one of the signatories of the Shillong Accord 1975 passed away today in Kohima, Nagaland. The Octogenarian Naga Nationalist was 89.
He is survived by one daughter and two sons. His wife Y.Amongla passed away in the 1990s.
Ao’s funeral was held at Transit Peace Camp, Mission Compound, Kohima, at 11:00 a.m.
After the funeral, Ao’s mortal remains were to his native village Longkhum, Mokokchung Nagaland.
Born on 18 February 1934, Temjenba Ao joined the Naga National Council (NNC)in 1950s and served as a Tatar (parliament member).
In order to protect the Nagas during difficult times, Ao joined the Naga Underground Organization in 1975.
It is said that Ao was among those who signed the Shillong Accord in 1975, which was signed in Shillong during the administration of Nagaland Governor LP Singh.
