Primary level teachers who have not been paid their salaries for a long time have taken onto fast unto death in protest.
The teachers appointed between 1991 and 2001 who have not received their salaries for a long time started their protest on Friday in Assam’s Lakhimpur district. The teachers were seen protesting on a state wide level on July 26.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had earlier promised discussions with the teachers over the matter. But so far there has been no go ahead in any discussions as such.
The teachers are demanding that the government must reach a solution to the matter through dialogues.
