We discussed crucial initiatives for the development of NE India and explored potential collaboration based on regional needs. I greatly appreciate the visit and the gifts.”

During the meeting, Y. Patton congratulated Lalduhoma for forming a strong reliable government, stating that the people’s support for his government is evident from the time he landed at Lengpui airport till reaching Aizawl.

He stated that Nagaland also regards Lalduhoma as their Chief Minister as Nagas and Mizos share a common ancestry.

The two discussed on working towards the development of the Northeast States.

Y. Patton stated that he shares Lalduhoma’s decision against fencing of the Indo-Myanmar border, saying that many Naga tribes are residing within Myanmar territory.

It may be mentioned that Lalduhoma during his meeting with central leaders in New Delhi including Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week, had termed the move to fence the 510-km-long porous border it has with the neighbouring country is unacceptable.

Lalduhoma met PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi and told him that people of his state consider the border it has with Myanmar was imposed on them by the British.
