Covid Cases spike in Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura and Manipur; Assam witnesses a marginal dip

Mizoram on Wednesday reported the highest single-day spike in COVID cases with 2,573 new cases. This pushes the state’s total COVID tally to 1,77,595 while the death toll has risen to 615 after six people succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours.
The single-day positivity rate is 27.90%, with new cases detected from 9,223 sample tests. The state now has 15,338 active cases while 1,61,642 people have recovered from the disease, including 2,318 recoveries on Tuesday.
Meghalaya reported 293 fresh COVID cases in the last 24 hours. This brings the active COVID tally to 2,232. Moreover, 3 more COVID-19 related deaths were also reported from the state during the same time period, taking the death toll to 1,529. Meanwhile, 371 patients recovered from the illness in the last 24 hours.

Tripura, on the other hand, reported 143 fresh cases. This takes the state’s positivity rate to 3.41% while the tally of active cases stands at 3525. Besides, the state also reported six new COVID deaths, taking the death toll to 902 in the state. On the other hand, 919 patients recovered from the illness. The recovery rate is currently at 95.58%.
Meanwhile, Manipur reported 327 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of active COVIDs to 3,961, with a 15.3 percent positivity rate. Moreover, 4 patients succumbed to the illness and 346 patients recovered from Covid in the same time period.

Meanwhile, Assam has witnessed a slight dip in COVID cases with a total of 1,486 fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours. Of these, the Kamrup Metropolitan district has reported a total of 343 fresh cases. This puts the current active caseload of Assam at 19,461. With this, the COVID positivity rate is at 4%.
Meanwhile, a total of 20 COVID-related deaths have been reported in the state. On the other hand, a total of 2,632 patients have been discharged after attaining full recovery. Assam’s recovery state stands at 96.20 percent.
