In the fight against drugs, a total of 50 acres of poppy cultivation were destroyed during a poppy destruction drive on Friday at Thangching Hill range in Manipur’s Churachandpur district.
In the fight against drugs, a total of 50 acres of poppy cultivation were destroyed during a poppy destruction drive on Friday at Thangching Hill range in Manipur’s Churachandpur district.
The drive against illicit poppy cultivation was carried out by a joint team of Churachandpur District Police, Narcotics and Affairs of Border (a unit under Manipur Police), Forest Officials and personnel from the 1st Indian Reserve Battalion.

Manipur has seen an unprecedented rise in illicit poppy cultivation over the past few years. In the fight against drugs, various measures have been adopted by the state government to combat it. Illicit poppy cultivation is targeted mainly apart from routine checking of drug circulation and business.
Poppy is heavily planted in the hills of Henglep, Saikot, and Singat sub divisions of Churachandpur district.
