Assam Government sanctions Rs. 25 crore for Assam University

The Assam Government on Friday sanctioned Rs. 25 crore to Assam University, Silchar for pursuing development works in the campus. This was announced by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma
The Assam Government on Friday sanctioned Rs. 25 crore to Assam University, Silchar for pursuing development works in the campus. This was announced by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma while participating in the 29th Foundation Day of Assam University as the Chief Guest.
Speaking at the event CM Sarma said, “Assam University is a Central University, but they also helps us as it is an affiliating University for our colleges. So we have a very cordial and organic link with Assam University. I would like to place Rs. 25 crores from Assam government for the development of Assam University.”
The CM further urged the University authorities to provide the state government a detailed plan and also assured that the amount of Rs.25 crore will be released in a time span of 2 years.
The CM further suggested, “With this amount you can create a hostel, an innovation lab, start-up ventures and other initiatives to catapult the state’s socio-economic development.

I have asked the university authority to prepare DPR for utilisation of the fund etc. The choice is yours. You are free to decide how you want to spent that amount. I don’t want to dictate the terms on which you want to spend the money.”
Taking to Twitter CM Sarma wrote, “Happy to attend the 29th foundation day of Assam University, Silchar. Established in 1994, the university has played a vital role in producing quality human resources. l congratulate all faculty members, students & research scholars on this auspicious occasion.”

CM Assam is on a one-day tour of Silchar. Earlier in the morning, he inaugurated a Cath Lab at SMCH and a 50-seat resident doctors’ hostel.
