The 14th round of Corps Commander-level talks between India and China to resolve the Line of Actual Control standoff will take place today at the Chushul-Moldo meeting point on the Chinese side.

The military talks will be held to achieve the objective of complete disengagement at the remaining friction points in eastern Ladakh.

India will look forward to having a constructive dialogue to resolve the friction points in eastern Ladakh.

The Indian side is expected to press for disengagement as soon as possible at all the remaining friction points, including the resolution of issues in Depsang Bulge and Demchok.

The 13th round of talks took place on October 10, but nothing was achieved in that meeting as China did not agree to suggestions made by India.

As part of a disengagement strategy, buffer zones have been created at friction points, including Pangong Lake, Gogra Hot Springs, and Galwan Valley.

Notably, this will be the first time the newly appointed Commander of 14 Corps, Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, will participate in the talks.

Worth mentioning here, the eastern Ladakh border standoff between the Indian and Chinese militaries erupted on May 5, 2020, following a violent clash in the Pangong lake areas.

Both sides gradually enhanced their deployments by rushing in tens of thousands of soldiers as well as heavy weaponry.
