In the backdrop of the rising Covid-19 cases, the Mizoram government on Thursday announced new Standard Operating Procedures for the entry points into the state.

The state government has come up with the revised Covid-19 SOPs after receiving concerning recommendations from the State Level Expert Team on Covid-19 Management.

As per the guidelines, all entrants to the state have to be screened for Covid-19 at the entry screening sites.

All people who test positive for Covid-19 must be separated and treated according to the Covid-19 management protocol. Meanwhile, asymptomatic people who tested negative for RAT may not be quarantined but must adhere to COVID’s guidelines.

The symptomatic person who tested negative with RAT will be tested with RT-PCR and will be quarantined for five days even if the test results are negative, and will be tested again after the five (five) days.

Asymptomatic persons entering Mizoram may be exempted from entry point screening and quarantine subject to the production of certain documents before the Entry Point Screening Team.

Meanwhile, the state reported 579 new cases, taking the active tally to 3,018. The positivity rate, however, stands at 9.72 %.
