Meghalaya Cabinet Minister and Regional committee member for the East Jaintia Hills, Lakhmen Rymbui, has said that due diligence will be done for the benefit of the state and the people with the mutual understanding of both the Chief Ministers of Assam and Meghalaya.

Rymbui made the statement when asked about the ‘alleged’ questions raised by villagers about Assam officials claiming Rattacherra falls under a wildlife sanctuary in Assam.

Rymbui said all the nitty-gritty at hand at the ground level has been discussed. He said he would not like to comment prematurely and that the report would be submitted by the chairman of the committee.

He also said that the report has been agreed upon by the Chairman and Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma.

He also said that he was positive about finding a solution as both the Chief Ministers of Assam and Meghalaya were very positive about reaching a solution.

It may be mentioned that the Chairman of the Committee and Cabinet Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar, is yet to submit his report on the findings of the committee to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.

Chief Ministers of Assam & Meghalaya Chief Ministers held a crucial meet in Guwahati on December last year on the inter-state border dispute between the two states. The meeting between Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Meghalaya counterpart Conrad Sangma at State Guest House Koinadhara discussed the reports submitted by the respective Regional Committees formed on the border dispute.
