Tripura: Fencing at Bangladesh border gains momentum

The composite and single row border fencing along with floodlighting work across the 856 km Tripura-Bangladesh border is likely to be completed within the year 2022, claimed Sushanta Kumar Nath, IG BSF, Tripura frontier.
Nath informed that more than 80 per cent of the fencing work is complete except in the eastern border sector where there are some issues with the executing agency. However, he said that the matter is under the monitoring of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the work is likely to be expedited.

Meanwhile, he expressed his satisfaction over the construction of single row fencing works at a few small patches in Sonamura under Sepahijala district.

Notably, substantial fencing work has been done in Tripura’s eastern sector last year and work on a 31-km porous stretch has been taken up on a priority basis while single row fencing has gained momentum in the state’s western sector, and 10 km was fenced during the same period.
