Three people are missing after the famous Sangam bridge in Arunachal Pradesh collapsed when a overloaded truck filled with stone boulders was crossing it.

The bridge is vital for the state as it connects Pangin with Boleng in Arunachal’s Siang district, and is used extensively by defence personnel.

According to sources, the mishap occurred at 9 AM in the morning and the police is yet to recover the truck and the three victims as the river is in spate. Sangam is the confluence point of the mighty Siang and the Yomgo rivers.

Earlier, the bridge had collapsed in the year 2000 as well during a massive flooding in the river Siang.

The three missing persons have been identified as Rahul Tamang, Ranjit Sutradhar and Mitinga Boro.
