Assam health minister and finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that the government is not mulling to impose a lockdown as situation in the state is still under control.
The health minister added that the government will step up precautionary measures at the airports and railway stations.
“Situation is under control in Assam. We are detecting around 50-70 cases daily, that too in airports and railway stations. There are not many cases in the state. So, there is no need to worry. If we continue with proper testing measures the Covid situation will be under control,” said Sarma.
It may be mentioned that the number of active cases in the state currently stands at 683, while 2,15,691 people have so far recovered from the disease, taking the recovery rate among the coronavirus patients to 98.56 per cent.
On the other hand, A total of 10.69 lakh people have been administered the first dose of the Coronavirus vaccine, while 1.84 lakh people have received the second dose.
