Assam-Mizoram border row: Cachar, Kolasib DC’s hold meet in Lailapur

A Deputy Commissioner level meeting was held between the DC’s of Assam’s Cachar and Mizoram’s Kolasib district at Lailapur, the flashpoint of the inter-state border row between both the States.

A Deputy Commissioner level meeting was held between the DC’s of Assam’s Cachar and Mizoram’s Kolasib district at Lailapur, the flashpoint of the inter-state border row between both the States. SPs of both the States also attended the meeting.

The meeting was held in a bid to diffuse the simmering tension over the inter-state border row. Kolasib DC H Lalthangliana urged the authorities in Assam to ensure free movement of trucks carrying essentials into Mizoram.

It may be mentioned here that the locals in Lailapur has imposed a total economic blockade preventing trucks from moving into Mizoram.

The locals have expressed disappointment over the outcome of today’s meeting and have said that the economic blockade will continue until Mizoram pull back its forces.
