Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday during the foundation stone laying ceremony of Jogighopa Multi-modal Logistics Park (MMLP), announced that another Multimodal Logistics Park will be set up on the river banks of Barak river in Assam.
This initiative is a part of the commitment made by the Chief Minister to equally develop the two great river valleys of Assam.
“Along with Jogighopa on the Brahmaputra bank, a Multimodal Logistics Park will also be set up on the banks of Barak river, realizing our commitment to equally develop the two great river valleys of Assam: CM,” the Chief Minister’s Office tweeted.
Earlier today, Union minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone of Jogighopa Multimodal Logistics Park (MMLP) in the Jogighopa area, Bongaigaon through online video conference.
Along with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Union Ministers Jitendra Singh, V K Singh and other officials were also present in the ceremony.
The multi-modal logistics park will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹694 crore. The park will provide direct connectivity through air, road, rail and waterways to the people.
With the construction of Multimodal Logistics Park in Jogighopa, Sonowal said that 20 lakh youths will get job opportunities and a new dimension of trade in Northeast will open up.
