COVID-19 cases soar to 25 in Assam as one more test positive

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Assam has gone up to 25 with the emergence of a fresh case from North Lakhimpur district.

State health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the information on his Twitter account. Sarma also mentioned that the person had been attendee at the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi.

Taking to Twitter, Sarma wrote, “Alert ~ One more #Covid_19 positive case from North Lakhimpur District has  been confirmed, taking the total number in Assam to 25.This  patient is also  related to #NizamuddinMarkaz event in Delhi. Update at 11.16 am/ April 4.”

Earlier, 8 positive cases were reported in the state. Sarma stated that while one positive case was been confirmed from Golaghat, three other cases have been confirmed from the districts of Kamrup (Metro), Kamrup (Rural) and Morigaon.

Prior to this, yesterday also saw four other positive cases in Assam. While three cases were from Nalbari district, one case was reported from South Salmara.

The three persons infected with COVID-19 in Nalbari hail from Uttar Pradesh and had came to Assam for religious preaching.
