Tension prevails in Arunachal Pradesh’ Namsai after fresh outbreak of violence in the area.
Violence erupted during a bandh called by the All Tai Khampti Singhpo Students Union and All Namsai Area Students Union. Over 10 people were injured in the incident, sources said.
The police had to resort to shelling of tear gas and firing in the air to bring the situation under control, sources said.
As per reports, the situation turned violent when the bandh supporters created ruckus outside the Namsai police station. Later the protesters moved towards the Jengthu Bridge.
Such is the situation that chief minister Pema Khandu has rushed in Home Minister Bamang Felix to take stock of the situation.
The bandh was called in protest against the alleged police inaction to book the culprits of the arson in the area last month.
