The post fell vacant following the demise of former Speaker Donkupar Roy on July 28.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma congratulated Metbah and said that it it is a befitting tribute to Dr Donkupar Roy that Metbah would now be occupying the chair of the speaker in the house, once occupied by Late Dr Roy.
