Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited his parliamentary constituency and paid his obeisance at the Kashi Vishwanath temple on Monday, after steering his party to a massive victory in the Lok Sabha elections.
The Prime Minister also addressed a gathering of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers, which was also attended by BJP national president Amit Shah.
“I had spoken to workers of Varanasi. All of you had ordered me ‘You can’t set foot in Varanasi for a month’. The nation might have elected me as the PM but for you, I am a worker. For me, your orders were the priority,” said PM Modi while addressing BJP workers in Varanasi.
PM Modi is also scheduled to hold a roadshow in Varanasi as a gesture of celebration in his constituency after the spectacular victory in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
A large number of security, paramilitary and Special Protection Group personnel have been deployed in places where Modi will be visiting.
Narendra Modi not only retained Varanasi, but also saw his victory margin increase by nearly 1 lakh votes as compared to the 2014 general elections.
