Former Chief Minister and CLP leader Mukul Sangma has made it clear that he will not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Tura.
Even as state Congress spokesperson Zenith Sangma and Congress leader Deborah Marak had applied for the party ticket from Tura Lok Sabha constituency, former minister and senior party leader Ampareen Lyngdoh had backed Mukul Sangma as the Tura candidate.
Talking to media, Mukul Sangma however, said that he is happy to do what he is doing and will not contest the Lok Sabha polls.
Asked whether the Congress is indecisive about selecting a candidate with many of the leaders applying, Sangma said that the party has a galaxy of leaders who have ventured out into politics to serve the people and it is a good sign that several leaders of the party have expressed their interest to contest elections.
