In a search operation carried out on Saturday morning, a total of 28 persons were taken into custody by the police in Manipur’s state capital Imphal after they failed to produce any proper identity proof.

The people were picked up by the police in Imphal’s Thangal Bazar locality. The operation was carried out at 8 am in the morning under the supervision of Additional SP Imphal West, Krishna Tombi.

The search operations were conducted keeping the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Imphal on January 4.

About 120 people were rounded up for verification from the Ima Market to the Kasturi Bridge in the Thangal Bazar area.
