A crucial meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is underway in New Delhi today.
The meeting assumes significance after the November 20 JPC meeting remained inconclusive.
JPC Chairman and BJP MP Rajendra Agarwal had disclosed that the JPC members had raised proposals for amending the Bill that also included the removal of Bangladesh from the purview of the Bill.
It may be mentioned that the JPC will file their report in the Parliament on December 11.
Earlier, a 16 member Joint parliamentary committee was on a three day visit to Assam to incorporate the opinions of different organisations and individuals into the Bill.
