Various women’s group came out in Arunachal Pradesh’s Bomdila to protest against the recent vandalism allegedly committed by the Arunachal Scouts.

The women protesters came in a large group and led a protest march shouting slogans and demanding the guilty to be brought to book.

A memorandum was also submitted to the Deputy Commissioner regarding the incident. Earlier the women protesters held a meeting at the Buddha Peace Park and began their protest rally from there.

Two Arunachal Scouts personnel were taken into custody by the police for allegedly misbehaving with women during the Buddha Mahotsav.

The next day saw a large number of Arunachal Scouts coming over and vandalising the police station as an act of revenge.

The incident drew sharp criticism from government as well as civil society members.

Meanwhile, the recent act of vandalism by Arunachal Scouts has evoked sharp reactions from within the BJP.

BJP MP Rajeev Chandrashekhar took to Twitter pointing fingers at the state administration.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju was prompt in reacting and said that the matter is sensitive and he along with the Defence Minister and the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister are looking at options to settle the matter.
