MUSU, MUTA meets CM N Biren Singh; Another round of talks end inconclusively

Yet another round of talks between the university bodies’ representatives and Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh ended inconclusively today. This was informed to Northeast Live by Manipur University Students Union president Dayamand Singh.

Dayamand said that no decision on the unconditional release of the arrested students and teachers could be taken during the meeting.

Earlier, hopes rose about the possibility of an end to the over 130-day university impasse when court appointed administrator Jarnail Singh convinced the MUSU, MUTA and MUSA representatives to meet the chief minister in a bid to end the impasse.

The core agenda of the meet once again was the unconditional and immediate release of the students and teachers arrested during the midnight raid on September 20.

However, no decision could be reached at on the release of the students and teachers during the meet with CM.

The MUSU president also informed that another round of talks with the CM will be held soon.
