Arunachal: Kidnapped minor girl recovered, culprit on the run

The Arunachal Pradesh Police has recovered a kidnapped minor girl in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh. The operation was carried out by the Special Branch led by Inspector Biswajit Konwar.

The 8-year-old was kidnapped by a listed criminal namely Ajit Chakma in the month of July from Dirak Gohaingaon under Bordumsa police station in eastern Assam’s Tinsukia district.
It may be mentioned here that the kidnapping created much tension between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh with the Moran Students Union calling for an Assam bandh and organization of a blockade at Dirak gate.
The 8-year-old was handed over to her parents at Bordumsa police station in presence of the representatives from the Moran Students Union. However, the culprit Ajit Chakma managed to flee.
