Excess water released from Doyang dam causes flood in Assam’s Golaghat district

The release of water by the NEEPCO’s Doyang hydro electric project dam over the Doyang river has caused flood in Assam’s Golaghat district.

The dam, located in Nagaland’s Wokha district, recently released excessive waters of the Doyang due to monsoons which has as a result affected the scenario in Assam’s Golaghat district.

Several places in Golaghat such as Merapani, Sarupani, Kalyanpur, Sonalipathar and other places are facing flood like scenario. The decision to release the excess water was taken by NEEPCO. Authorities in Golaghat are gearing up to conduct rescue missions.
