The demand for the removal of the present Manipur University Vice Chancellor, Adya Prasad Pandey continues to grow louder. The protests by members of the MUSU and MUTA has entered its 34th day today.

Several faculty members of the University including HOD’s and deans have already tendered their resignations in protest and the numbers are expected to rise in the days to come.

As per latest reports, 25 faculty members have resigned from their respective posts so far. The protest took a bizarre turn yesterday when protesters were seen burning down a dummy coffin of Vice Chancellor Pandey.

The students and faculty members of the University have been demanding the removal of Vice Chancellor Adya Prasad Pandey on grounds of committing both administrative and financial irregularities.

The protest which began on the 31st of May is only intensifying with university members also submitting memorandums to the President, HRD minister, Manipur Chief Minister and Governor demanding constitution of a high-level enquiry committee to probe the allegations levelled against the Vice Chancellor.

The MUSU also shut down the administrative block of the university and subsequently blocked other departments inside the campus demanding immediate removal of Pandey.
