Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb has stated that there is no food crisis in his state and has said that the only people suffering from such problems are the drug traffickers who are being hunted down by his government.
Deb also added that he would resign from his post of Chief Minister if it is proved that there is a scenario of starvation in Tripura under his watch.
His statement came in the wake of the recent allegations by CPI(M) MP Jitendra Choudhury alleging that Tripura is suffering from food crisis and that people from Tripura are procuring essential food commodities from across the border in Bangladesh.
Deb specifically stated that drug peddlers are the only people crossing the international border to fulfill their basic needs.
