Ashok Chakra awardee Martyr Hangpan Dada’s memorial was inaugurated at Borduria in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh today.
A grand memorial built by the Tirap district administration to immortalize the brave Late Havildar was unveiled at his native village in Borduria by the chief guest of the ceremony Maj. Gen. Gajinder Singh.
Dada’s wife Chasen Dada, his daughter and son were present along with MLAs Wanglin Lowangdong, Wanglin Sawin and Tirong Aboh along with a host of other senior army and government officials.
It might be mentioned here that Hangpan Dada martyred during a fierce encounter with militants in Kashmir on May 26, 2016. Displaying exemplary courage and skill, Dada single handedly eliminated 2 militants and was critically injured while killing the third. Later, he succumbed to his injuries.
Due to his courage and valour, Dada was later conferred the Ashok Chakra posthumously.
