Intensifying the crackdown against corruption in Assam, the Anti-corruption and vigilance wing of the Assam police have arrested Bongaon Block Development Officer Atifur Rahman and Junior engineer Suchitro Talukdar on charges of bribery.

The accused duo were caught red handed while accepting bribes of Rs five thousand from a contractor to award him a contract for construction of a road under the MGNREGA scheme at the cost of Rs 8 lakh.

The anti-corruption and vigilance wing carried out an operation to nab the corrupt officials on the basis of a complaint filed by Faizul Haq.
