Just two months after tension prevailed along interstate border of Assam and Mizoram, the Mizoram government on Monday constituted a core committee to conduct a comprehensive survey of the border area with neighbouring Assam.
The committee was formed at a meeting of government officials, Mizo Zirlai Pawl leaders and the Mizoram team who took part in the joint survey of the border area with Assam in April, under the leadership of chief minister Lal Thanhawla.
The meeting suggested that the core committee immediately launch its work and submit a report at the earliest.
It deliberated on the joint survey conducted by Mizoram and Assam to identify illegal structures within the inner line reserve forest area along the Assam-Mizoram border in April.
