On the fateful day of May 5, Assam lost one of its finest officers in a fierce gun battle that took place between the ULFA – I cadres and a joint task force of the Assam Police and the Cobra Battalion of the CRPF. Officer in charge Bhaskar Kalita lost his life in the encounter.
