Japan explores trade and commercial avenues in Northeast, Meghalaya Governor seeks help in farming

The Ambassador of Japan to India, Kenji Hiramatsu who met Meghalaya Governor Ganga Prasad on Monday said that Japan is looking for avenues to venture into the areas of food processing and infrastructure development projects in the Northeast.

Considering it as a viable option, the diplomat said that he would encourage the Japanese business community to look into the possibility of investing in the Northeast. He also said that Japan wants more cooperation not only in business but also in exchange of culture which is similar to that of Japan.

The Japanese Ambassador also hoped to see more cultural exchange taking place in the near future. Meanwhile, Meghalaya Governor said that the state is seeking Japan’s support in transferring appropriate technology for developing the strawberry sector considering its growing demand across the globe.
