Yumsen Matey Murder case: Tirap students body holds massive peace rally in Khonsa today

The All Tirap District Students Union held a massive peace rally in Khonsa town on Tuesday to condemn the brutal assassination of former Khonsa West MLA Yumsem Matey by unidentified miscreants.

Matey was killed on December 16, near Raho village, under Lazu circle in Tirap district of Arunachal.

Meanwhile, the Arunachal government has declared ‘mourning day’ for Tirap district today as a tribute to Matey.

The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union has demanded a fast-track investigation into the killing of former MLA Yumsen Matey by suspected militants.

AAPSU’s Secretary General, Ritum Tali, stated that the union submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister today regarding the killing of the former MLA.

Ritum Tali made a strong claim that reliable family source of the deceased informed that an underground group warned Yumsen Matey to not contest in the 2024 state assembly elections.

Tali further demanded that the murder should be thoroughly investigated in a time-bound manner to unearth the hidden truth.

The AAPSU also demanded the sealing of international border in the Tirap, Changlang and Longding (TCL) region and expulsion of insurgent groups to restore peace.

In their memorandum to chief minister Pema Khandu, AAPSU also demanded the intervention of the state government to secure the release of Chop Village Chief, Chingsan Wangham and GB Chopkhu Gangsa.
