Yaba Tablets Worth Rs 7 Crore Seized In Tripura. Drugs Worth Rs 36.5 Crore Seized in the State Since February 2025

Earlier in February this year, security forces seized drugs worth Rs 24 crore from Khowai and Dhalia districts of Tripura.

In a major success against narcotics smuggling, Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), recovered 70,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 7 crore from a vehicle in Teliamura, Tripura in the early morning of Jun 1.

Two individuals, Shamal Majumdar, a resident of West Tripura district and Malaya Debnath, resident of North Tripura district were apprehended and were handed over to the DRI for further investigation and legal proceedings.

In March this year, three people were arrested in Tripura’s Agartala after banned Yaba tablets worth Rs 5.50 crore were seized from their possession.

Earlier in February this year, security forces seized drugs worth Rs 24 crore from Khowai and Dhalia districts of Tripura.

A combined operation by Assam Rifles and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence led to the seizure of 90,000 Yaba tablets (methamphetamine) valued at Rs 9 crore from a cement-laden truck in Teliamura, Khowai district.The authorities apprehended one individual in relation to this case.

In a separate incident, Assam Rifles and Customs officials discovered 1,50,000 Yaba tablets, estimated at Rs 15 crore, in two abandoned bags aboard the Shatabdi Express in Dhalai district.
