Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that the Government won’t allow the Dhanamanjuri University to shut down.
Speaking on the impasse in DM University, CM Biren Singh assured steps would be taken to bring back normalcy in the university. The matter has been discussed with State education minister Radheyshyam and the issue will be settled soon. The chief minister further said that talks would also be held with the agitating students.
The All Manipur Students’ Union on Monday had imposed a total shutdown on the Dhanamanjuri University and its constituent colleges citing operational inefficiency and lack of basic facilities.
A large number of students and volunteers led by AMSU members locked the university and its constituent colleges namely the LMS Law College, GP Women’s College and DM College of Arts, Science and Commerce.
