Winter Session of Parliament heats up on suspension of MPs, farmer’s issue.

The Opposition and the NDA are at loggerheads after 12 of the former’s Rajya Sabha members were suspended yesterday. The suspended MPs staged a protest today at the Mahatma Gandhi statue infront of the parliament against their suspension which the opposition has termed as “authoritarian”, “unwarranted” and “undemocratic”.
The Opposition has issued fresh warnings that the House could witness more disruptions on account of the suspensions.

Rajya Sabha speaker Vice president M Vekaiah Naidu has refused to revoke any of the suspensions.

With opposition members resorting to sloganeering & obstructing proceedings Rajya Sabha was suspended till 2 pm today.

Lok Sabha proceedings were also adjourned till noon amid continuous protests over farmer issues by the TRS members. During the question hour, TRS members packed the well of the house shouting slogans and displaying placards. Speaker Om Birla tried to quell the protests stressing the importance of the question hour & requesting them to let the proceeding go on.

Meanwhile, in Lok Sabha, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will move the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Bill, 2020. In Rajya Sabha, Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will move the Dam Safety Bill today.12 Opposition members of the Rajya Sabha were suspended yesterday for the remaining session for their “unprecedented acts of misconduct”, “unruly and violent behaviour” and “intentional attacks on security personnel” on August 11, the last day of the Monsoon season.
