Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) chief and Chief Minister-elect Lalduhoma today said he will soon take up both the Myanmar refugee crisis and the Manipur unrest with the Centre.
Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, Lalduhoma said that he had a telephonic conversation with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar yesterday and that he will visit New Delhi at a convenient time and discuss the Myanmar refugee crisis.
Responding to a query on the demand for separate administration by the Kuki Zo tribes in Manipur, Lalduhoma said, “All of them are Indian citizens. They are our brothers and sisters and we will take care of them.I spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah yesterday regarding the issue. We will soon sit and discuss the matter face to face.”
Earlier in the day, Lalduhoma called on Mizoram Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati at the Raj Bhawan (Governor’s House) in Aizawl to stake claim for government formation.
The swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet will take place at 11 am on Friday.
After meeting the Governor, the CM-elect said, “Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati has appointed me as the new Chief Minister of Mizoram. Asking me to form a government, he has assured his full corporation. We are very happy and honoured by him.”
