Assam: Wild Elephants Trample Woman to Death, Injures 4 Others in Mariani

A herd of wild elephants trampled a woman to death and seriously injured 4 others in Mariani in Assam’s Jorhat district.

The deceased has been identified as Anjana Samasi.

As per inputs, Anjana along with 4 other women had gone to collect wood in a forest near the Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary, when they were attacked by the wild elephants.

While the other women managed to escape, Anjana lost her way and was trampled by the herd.

Her body remained in the dense forest for hours as no one dared to approach the area.

Later, with the help of the forest department and police, BJP Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi personally entered the forest at night and recovered the body.
