Who will be the ministers in PS Tamang Govt 2.0? Check list of probables here

The Prem Singh Tamang government is expected to be sworn-in this Sunday (June 9) for a second term. The political corridors of Sikkim are now abuzz with who all will get a berth in the Tamang Cabinet 2.0.

Amid all the speculations, reliable sources told Northeast Live that the list is almost ready and among the names who are likely to be part of the next Tamang government are Bhoj Raj Rai who defeated 5-time former Sikkim CM and 8-time MLA, SDF patriarch Pawan Chamling in the Poklok-Kamrang seat and 3 former SDF MLAs who won as SKM leaders this time and NB Dahal, first time MLA from Singtam-Khamdong. Also among the probables is Raj Kumari Thapa who could be the only female face in the Tamang Council of Ministers.

As of now the list has 12 names:

  1. Sonam Lama, a minister in the outgoing Tamang govt. He won from the Sangha seat
  2. B S Panth, MLA for the 5th time from the Temi-Namphing seat. He too is a minister in the outgoing Tamang govt
  3. NB Dahal, first time MLA from Singtam-Khamdong
  4. Arun Upreti, former minister and Speaker of the outgoing Sikkim Assembly won the Arithang seat again
  5. G T Dhungel, 2nd time MLA from Upper Tadong
  6. Tshering Thendup Bhutia, first time MLA from Yuksom seat
  7. Bhojraj Rai, 2 time SDF MLA, first time SKM MLA. He defeated Pawan Chamling in the Poklok-Kamrang seat
  8. Bhim Hang Limboo, minister in the outgoing Tamang government. He won the Yangthang seat
  9. Madan Cintury, a former SDF MLA. He is from the SC community. He won the Salghari-Zoom seat
  10. Puran Gurung, former SDF MLA, first time SKM MLA. Gurung community leader. He won the Chujachen seat.
  11. Raj Kumari Thapa, former SDF MLA. Joined BJP and then joined SKM. She won the Rangang-Yangang seat
  12. Pinsto Namgyal Lepcha, Dzongu MLA

Raju Basnet is expected to be sworn in as the Speaker of the 11th Sikkim Assembly and Sonam Tshering Venchungpa is likely to get the position of Deputy Speaker, sources said.
Basnet defeated Pawan Chamling in the Namcheybung seat by 2256 votes. Basnet got 7195 votes while Chamling got 4939 votes.
Venchungpa won from the Martam-Rumtek seat for the second time. He had won the seat in 2019.
