Robbery accused Rohit Sharma fled while jail guards, who were supposed to escort him back, were getting massages at a spa in Ratlam. Both guards have been suspended, and an FIR has been filed against them.

According to NDTV report, in a shocking and bizarre turn of events, a robbery suspect managed to escape from custody while his jail guards were allegedly enjoying a massage at a spa in Madhya Pradesh.

The incident took place in Ujjain district, where five armed robbers had looted Rs 18 lakh from Shiva Baba Liquor Company in Nagda town on December 25. Rohit Sharma, identified as the prime accused, was arrested and lodged in Khachrod Sub-Jail on January 5. However, his detention took an unexpected twist when he was granted medical attention for a reported leg injury.

On Tuesday at 11 AM, jail guards Rajesh Srivastava and Nitin Dalodiya escorted Sharma to Khachrod Government Hospital for treatment. As per standard procedure, he was supposed to be taken back to jail immediately after receiving medical attention. However, by 6 PM, Sharma had not returned, raising suspicions and triggering an internal inquiry.

Authorities reviewed hospital CCTV footage, which revealed that Sharma had walked out between 12 PM and 12:30 PM several hours before his absence was officially noticed. Further investigations uncovered an even more bizarre detail, instead of escorting him back to jail, the two guards allegedly took him nearly 30 kilometers away to a spa in Ratlam.

Shockingly, CCTV footage from the spa showed Sharma also receiving a massage. In one of the clips, he was seen hurriedly leaving a massage room, putting on a t-shirt as he made his escape through a door.

Following a complaint by Khachrod Jail Superintendent Surendra Singh Ranawat, police registered a case against the two jail guards and Rohit Sharma under Sections 262 and 264 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).

Ujjain Superintendent of Police (SP) Pradeep Sharma confirmed that both jail guards have been suspended, and an FIR has been lodged against them for aiding in the escape. Meanwhile, multiple police teams have been deployed to track down the fugitive, who remains at large.
