Malala Yousafzai, youngest nobel laureate and staunch advocate for girls’ education, tied the knot with Asser Malik, a manager in the Pakistan Cricket Board, on November 9.

The 24-year-old Malala, living in Britain, performed the ‘Nikkah’ ceremony in the city of Birmingham in England in the presence of the families of both the bride and groom.

Later taking to Twitter, Malala wrote, “Today marks a precious day in my life. Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead, @malinfezehai”.

According to the reports, Malala’s groom Asser Malik was also the president of Dramaline, a theatre production organization, while in college. Malik has also been involved in “reviving grassroots cricket” and providing amateur players with a “proper hard ball cricket experience” in Pakistan. A thorough crickety manager he has been instrumental in designing the player development programme for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Multan Sultans.

With Malala tying her knot celebrities and personalities all across the globe have wished the newly married couple. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Chelsea Clinton, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau etc. have already congratulated them.

Malala Yousafzai is admired around the world for her work, particularly in Western countries. Malala stands as an example for her personal bravery and eloquence in advocating for girls and women’s rights. Her activism has also been polarized as public opinion in Pakistan.
