Water Resource Dept’s negligence irks paddy farmers of Manipur

#??????? | Many paddy fields previously fed by the left canal of the Khuga Multipurpose Dam have not seen paddy till date as the Water Resource Department could not clear the debris and siltation on the canal thereby, obstructing the flow of water to the paddy fields. When the farmers’ community members enquired, officials of the department responded that there is no fund for clearing the canal and further stated the lack of manpower. Therefore, the farmers took the initiative to clear the canal on their own.
